The holiday season may be over, but there's still snow (and plenty more to come) up here in Michigan! And what brightens winter like nothing else? Holiday lights. Those twinkling strands of tiny bulbs could be just what your brick and mortar business needs this season.
I'm not talking about a few strands to line your shop windows or hang from an eave; I'm talking big, show-stopping, BAMM lights!
If you're from the area, you may be familiar with Rochester's downtown scene during the holidays. Every storefront is covered from sidewalk to roof in strand after strand of multi-colored lights. It's a beautiful scene (the one at the top of the post).
But, what if every business in your city hasn't jumped on the bandwagon? All the better. It's the simplest way to stand out amongst your bland neighbors.
The great thing about it too, holiday lights are all-inclusive. i.e. You're not going to upset the Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, or other celebrators out there (not that you should be worrying about that anyway). It'll actually give off the impression of a pleasant place to shop.
Go out, buy some discount holiday lights and run them up and down your storefront until every driver and person walking by notices your company before anyone else.
I've 'discovered' businesses I never knew existed in my small town, just because they spent the time to dress up for the holidays when nearby stores hadn't.
Don't be the store that blends in. Get your holiday cheer on and stand out!
